What are the Benefits of Using a Wrought Iron Wall Decor
By Jessica Stockton
There are a variety of materials that one may choose from when selecting a wall decor for either a homes or an office. Wall decors are made from wood, steel, stone, marble, and even paper. Some of these materials are more durable than others; this is why more people prefer wrought iron. It is one of the most popular and sought after wall decors available. Wrought iron is a type of iron that includes metallic iron that has been refined. Aside from using it as a wall decor, it is also used as a material to create metal wall plaques, metal wall sculptures, and furniture. It is also used in window treatments, outdoor fencing and gates and garden décor. There are many reasons why wrought iron is so popular: It is very sturdy and it can withstand almost any weather condition. So as a decorative material, it is suitable for both an indoor and outdoor decoration. Although finished wrought iron is very sturdy, during the manufacturing process it is actually soft and very flexible, making it an ideal material for creating wonderful art sculptures. Wrought iron has lower carbon content than a cast iron making it more malleable for molding and shaping. Because of these attributes, furniture made from wrought iron features ornate and intricate designs. Wrought iron actually has grains much like that of wood, which is due to its slag content. When wrought iron is bent and molded, this grain-like characteristic is shown. This characteristic is uncommon to other metals making wrought iron a unique material in itself. This characteristic also gives a wrought iron piece texture and dimension. Decorative artwork from wrought iron can be integrated with many design styles, from contemporary, traditional, formal or informal. Wall decors made from wrought iron can fit to just about any type of furniture one has. It can go well with wooden or wicker furniture providing a great contrast in design. It can also go well with comfortable couches or beds making it a focal point. It is a classic choice that stands the test of time both from a design standpoint and the durability of the material. It is also very easy to maintain and care for wrought iron; an occasional dusting is about all that is needed. Once can place a wrought iron wall décor not only indoors but outdoors as well giving the garden or backyard the same design and style as the rest of the house. Although a wall decor made from wrought iron is physically hard or strong, it can also appear soft and curvaceous, making it an ideal accompaniment to any piece of art or furniture. One thing is for certain when choosing wrought iron: Whatever its style or application, you can be assured that a wrought iron piece will never disappoint.
