Wall Decorating Ideas to Suit Your Space and Personality

Walls are essential in any design concept. If you are redecorating the entire room, the first thing that you have to deal with are the walls.. In order to come up with a successful design, you need to decide what to do with the backdrop; this backdrop is the wall. A design can be simple or complex, yet anyone can achieve great design. Since the wall serves as the background, you can choose different decorating techniques to make the walls an integral part of the design of the entire room or space. Wall decorating is exciting and once you know how to manipulate walls and therefore the entire space, your interiors will have signature style that matches your personality and design style. Walls vary. There are high walls that soar upward toward cathedral ceilings and short walls with ceilings that may feel too low. Some finishes are rough while others are smooth. Some rooms have walls that are open to other rooms and some rooms are enclosed by four walls. To achieve the look you want for a particular room you can manipulate the space by manipulating the wall through color, wall art and accessories. 1. Add color Adding color by far the most popular and easiest way todecorate a wall. You can just prepare the wall and paint it with your chosen color. However, paint can do so much more than just add one color to a wall. Use molding like a chair rail to add one color on the lower half of a room and another on the upper; using a dark color below and lighter colors above and onto the ceiling will make the space feel taller. Use blue painter’s tape to add stripes or designs with paint. Or add color and pattern with wallpaper.
You can also use paint to an original work on a wall. Create anything from a realistic mural to amonochromatic geometric design, depending on the style and atmosphere you wish to create. 2. Wall Arts You do not have to repaint your walls every time you want a new look. You can refresh a room by choosing beautiful wall arts and arranging them on the wall. Blank walls can be dull but adding your favorite painting or a series of framed photos you have taken will surely give it more life and personality. 3. Adding drapes Having drapes in selected sections of the wall creates a variety of textures. You can also use them to add color and pattern to the room. Choosing a fabric that contrasts with the wall color will add a new dimension to the space. Choosing a slightly lighter or darker shade than the wall paint creates a more subtle effect.
Your walls are the basis of your home decor. If you choose to be bold with the patterns on the wall, you can be more austere with your choices for furniture and accessories, or visa versa. What will give your room personality and a well-designed look is when you achieve a pleasing balance of contrast, color, texture and pattern.
