For a wine lover or connoisseur, a wine rack is an important piece of furniture: It is a way to display and store a collection of wine. With the different sizes, designs and styles of wine racks available in the market today, it can be a little overwhelming to choose one that will fit your needs. When choosing a wine rack for your home, there are three things you should consider that can apply to all varieties of wine racks. The Purpose First, consider the purpose of your wine rack. Aside from its usual use for wine storage, a wine rack can also be used as a decorative piece. Wine racks with intricate and ornate designs are great decorative pieces which you can display anywhere. If the purpose of your wine rack is to complete your wine bar, then you may opt to get one that has a built in glass rack as well. These multi-purpose wine racks can serve as a mini bar for homes with small spaces. Multi-purpose wine racks that have built in glass rack can be placed in your entertainment room for easy access. Traits of the Wine Rack To choose a perfect wine rack that will fit your needs, also consider the different traits of the wine rack. The size, capacity, features, stability and style of a wine rack are just some factors or traits that you need to look for when choosing a wine rack. Depending on your purpose, consider the capacity or the maximum number of bottles a wine rack can hold. If you have an extensive number of wine bottles than a large wine rack with a bigger bottle capacity may be needed.
Also select a wine rack that is the correct size for its location. A wall mounted wine rack is probably one of the best options for a smaller space. You can also opt for a wine rack that can be placed on top of counters or tables.
Durability and stability of a wine rack are also essential characteristics that should be considered. If the wine rack is not too sturdy, it can collapse and break your precious wine bottles leaving quite a mess. Make sure that the wine rack is stable enough to accommodate a full or partial
load. Although it may not be too important to some, the style of a wine rack should also be considered. If you want your wine rack to serve as a decorative piece as well then this is a vital factor to consider. Make sure that the style of your wine rack goes well with the entire design of the room where it will be displayed. A wrought iron wall mounted wine rack is a great wine rack that can serve both purposes and fit many decorative styles.
Location is the Key Lastly, consider the location of the wine rack. Keep in mind that wine should be kept out of direct sunlight. You can place your wine rack in your dining room, entertainment area, backyard, family room and kitchen. Check if you have enough space to accommodate a wine rack and then decide if you need a stationary or mobile wine rack.
