Stylish Seating Solution – the Sectional Couch

One of the trendiest choices when it comes to seating for your living room, den, media room, or family room is the sectional sofa. And the good news is, this is often an affordable seating solution as well. A sectional sofa blends style with functionality, although it is not the ideal selection for a space when particular circumstances exist, like narrow hallways, narrow staircases, or limited space within the area where you wish to install the sectional. Choosing a stylish section couch that is the appropriate scale with the surrounding space is important, and will truly mean the difference between an awesome space for your living room and not enjoying your space to the max. Measure to be sure that the sectional you choose will fit well into the space where you wish to install it. Careful measurements of the spaces between the delivery truck that will drop off the sectional and the area where you will install it are essential. This will help you to avoid any issues when getting it into your space. Measure all doorways, stairwells, hallways, and other areas that the sectional will have to be moved through on its route to its final resting place. If you have any problems, you will need to work them out beforehand, or select a different type of seating. When measuring a sectional, you need to measure more than simply its width. Measure the height of the back of the sectional, running from top to bottom. Measure the length of each section. Measure the width of the seat. Measure the height from the seat to the floor. You need to also take into account the length of any attached legs or feet, unless they can be removed during installation. These measurements are all important. If you are “off” in your measurements by even an inch or so, you may not be able to get the sectional into your space. In fact, you should plan to leave an inch or more on each side of the sectional so that you don’t cause any damage to your walls and doorways when moving it in. When referring to the appropriate “scale”, this simply means that you need to make a visual comparison to the sectional and the other pieces in the room, as well as the room itself. For example, if you select a sectional couch that is oversized and bulky, the style of the couch will not go well with finer, delicate furniture that you might already own. Choose instead a couch that matches the decor in your space to keep things in perspective. Be mindful of the scale of the sectional that you buy, and in particular, the size of the sectional’s legs, as they compare to the other furniture within the room. This includes bookcases, entertainment center, tables, and so on.
