Simple Steps to Add the Right Color in the Room
By Jessica Stockton
Color can make a huge change in a room. However, very few people are brave enough to use different colors in their design especially those who choose to do it by themselves. Many choose to use neutral shades because it is safer. You can never go wrong with that. Another reason why many fear the use of colors in their design is commitment. They do not feel that they will be able to live with the color for a long time. Some also feel that painting the room other than in neutral shades will not work. However, there are many ways to add color to a room other than painting. You do not even have to repaint to add life. Here are some ways to add colors in the room: 1. Hanging artworks on the wall This is probably the easiest way to add color to a room. Imagine a white wall with an abstract wall art on it. It looks very interesting, right? Artworks are very appealing and if you have organized them well on the wall, they will surely add more excitement in the room. 2. Adding colorful accessories Accessories complete a design. Without it, the room looks unfinished. Even the rooms that adapt the minimal approach use accessories. A single red candle in a middle of a white room gives a lot of drama to it. Unique sconces and lamps provide a romantic feel. In addition, pillows and curtains bring softness in a contemporary design. 3. Reinventing the furniture This is the most creative way to bring color in the room. You can repaint the shelves and stain the wooden frames as well. You can also reupholster your couch. These are just some creative ideas to add color in the room without totally revamping the entire area. The above-mentioned items will surely bring your neutral colored room to life. The good thing about it is that you do not have to commit to it. You can easily change the artworks and accessories if you do not like it anymore. You can also change the paint or fabric on your furniture when you deem necessary. If you want to make a bigger change in the room, do so by having a theme. It is easier to follow a color pattern if you have inspiration. You can use different colors found in your seascape oil painting. You can pick the least dominant color for the wall. Refer to the same painting to pick a color for the upholstery of your sofa as well. Another helpful way to pick the right colors is the use of the color wheel. This provides information on contrasting colors. Pick the best contrast for your furniture if you want it to stand out. Pops of colors add interest to the room. However, you have to be careful in your choices for everything to look orderly. If you used various colors in the room, use the patterns and repeated colors to tie everything together.
