Seven Popular Cities That Inspired the Growth of Wine

With several wine producing regions located all over the world, it can some times be daunting trying to determine which wine comes from which country or region. Wine can be categorized through the grape varieties used to produced it. You can also group wine according the regions where it was made. Classifying wine according to region might be the easiest way to select wines, and thereby develop a preference for those wines that appeal to your taste buds.
There are several common wine-producing regions that you can easily recognize. Most of these regions have been producing wines for centuries with the process handed down from onegenerations to another.

Two of the best known wine producing countries are France and Italy; that is why it is no wonder that these countries include many regions that are world-renowned for their impeccable wines.

Naples

In wine history, there are several cities that have contributed greatly to the production and popularity of modern wine. Naples Italy is one of them.
Naples is located in the South Central region of Italy and it is situated along the Bay of Naples. The city of Naples was founded by the Greeks during 600 BC. However during the 4th century this city was conquered by the Romans. Now, Naples is one of Italy’s busiest urban centers for business, tourism and culture.

Rome

Probably one of the most popular cities in Italy is Roma or Rome. This art-filled city is located along the Tiber River and was Italy’s capital in 1870.
This capital city of Italy is filled with rich culture, art and architecture. It also houses Italy’s center of administration.
In addition to excellent wines, Roman designs and style still influences decorative choices in wall decor and textile design.

Milan

Considered as one of the fashion capital of the world, Milan is a great inspiration for fashion and art. Located in the northern region of Italy, Milan has always been a center for various industries including its most famous – fashion.

Some wall wine rack can be inspired by the design style of this city giving these wine racks a more fashionable and contemporary style.

Palermo

Another inspiring Italian city is Palermo which is located in the northwest part of Sicily. During the 8th century, Palermo was discovered by the Phoenicians and was conquered by the Romans from 254 to 253 BC.

Turin

Turin is a city located in the northwestern region of Italy. It was founded by Taurini but unfortunately during 218 BC it was destroyed by Hannibal. Turin was later on ruled by Emperor Augustus, Charlemagne and the French.

Barcelona

A famous city in Spain, Barcelona is full of history and culture. It is located along the Mediterranean Sea and has been ruled by many including the Romans, the Franks, and the Moors to name a few.
Barcelona is Spain’s second largest city and its biggest port making it an important commercial center of Spain.

Girona

Girona is the capital city of the Girona province and is known for its success in industries like chemicals, food, machinery, paper and textile.
Although attempts from the French to conquer Girona had been planned, the city has successful from resisting from 1808 until 1809.

All of these cities have been a great influence to art and culture. It has brought about many artistic inspirations from a variety of mediums from wall paintings to wall wine rack.
