Redecorating Your Living Room: How to Get It Done
By Jessica Stockton
All of us want to have a beautiful living room. We want it to have a welcoming feel every time we invite friends over. We want it to be comfortable at the same time because it is where we bond with our family. However, not all living rooms have this feel. Most are outdated. Others just seem to fall apart. If your living area is suffering the same fate, it is time to give it a major make over. It may sound too much, but giving it a new look will do so much for the house. It can even do more for you. Redecorating your living area sounds like hard work, and it is. However, you can simplify it. Here is how: The preparation 1. Identify how much you are willing to spend. All design projects start with a budget. How are you going to spend it? Are you going to purchase new furniture? What are the projects you need to pull off to save on expenses? These questions will help you plan the entire redecorating process. 2. Coming up with a plan will definitely make the entire project easier. Start with what you want to do with the wall. Are you going to install abstract wall decor? How many artworks will you put up? In addition, you have to decide where to position the furniture. What are you going to add in the room? Next are the accessories. What will be the color of the rugs? Are you going to use sconces and additional lightings? 3. Finding help for this project is essential for its completion. Ask your friends and family members to help you with the redecoration. Assign them their tasks ahead of time. You can ask some friends to help in painting while others sew the drapes. After the planning stage, the execution follows. Start by shopping. See to it that you stick to your budget. The Execution 1. Verify that you have all the resources needed. If you are going to build new shelves, make sure that you have the wood, power tools, and other necessary equipments. You have to be certain that someone knows how to build it as well. 2. You have to act like an interior designer. This means that you have to check on the progress of the entire redecoration process. Verify how the walls are going, the same with the other projects. Check other problems and find better ways to solve them. 3. Bring the room together. Be patient as it takes form. Sometimes, the color of the wall can be discouraging especially if you have not brought all the other items in. Do not be afraid, it will definitely look better as you start hanging the wall arts. Remember, the entire room will look different once you have moved the furniture and the accessories in. Redecorating the living room or any part of the house is a tedious process. It can be very challenging but fulfilling. As long as you have all the resources, everything will work out perfectly. Photo from Flickr - "Redecorated living room " courtesy of dmvyanks . |
