How to Create Your Own Music Room
By Jessica Stockton
Any music lover’s dream is to have their own music room. It may not be a full-blown recording studio with all the high technology known to the music industry but it can be a room dedicated to your love of music. It may also be a space to showcase your music memorabilia. You do not have to spend too much to turn a space into a music room. A music room can be an empty room, a cozy corner or a small space where you can enjoy your love for music and hang out with your friends. You may opt to choose your music room or space in an area where there is a good view. A good view can inspire you to create great music. A music room is a space that invites nspiration and relaxation. Add comfortable chairs and pillows for lounging; big throw pillows or bean bags are great. They are inexpensive and save space as well. Big pillows can be placed anywhere in the room and you can have as many as you want. To create the feel of a music room, you can display your memorabilia on the walls. Hang your guitars or any musical instruments and they will serve as wall decoration while saving space. Hanging wall paintings, posters or old records is also a great way to create inexpensive yet creative art décor in your music room. Other decorations or accessories like mood lamps, throw rugs, or plants are also a good way to make your music room more inviting and more cozy. Personalize the space by putting in accessories that reflect your style and your favorite musical trends. When it comes to light fixtures make sure that they match the feel of your music room. If you want your music room to be warm and cozy, put in some mood or pin lights or track lighting. Colored bulbs let you set any mood you prefer. Table lamps can be added for soft ambient lighting but be sure to place them where they won’t be knocked over by instruments or other equipment. It is also important to take into account the arrangement of your furniture and accessories. Design your music room in such a way that instruments are easily accessible and are not in the way. You may find the best arrangement is to keep the seating area in the center of the room so that instruments, cases and other gear can be stashed along the walls, making it easy for musicians to come and go. Also, placing comfortable chairs or big pillows facing each other will promote sharing of ideas and music. Creating your own music room is a fun and creative way to showcase musical instruments and talent and is a relaxing alone, with family, or other musicians. Making it a reflection of your style will make it personal and unique.
