How to Create a Garden Theme in Your Bedroom
By Jessica Stockton
The bedroom is the most private space in any home and it is important that a bedroom is designed in a way that will help you relax. To make your bedroom space personal, design it in a style that reflects your interests and if you just love being outdoors then you can bring the outdoors right in your bedroom. Creating a garden theme inside your bedroom does not necessarily mean bringing so many plants that it will look like a jungle. There are simple ideas or projects that you can use to bring in the garden inside your bedroom. Make sure that you incorporate items from the outdoors that you love like flowers and p. Just placing a vase full of fresh flowers on a dresser can make a difference to your bedroom. You may also bring in potted plants to duplicate the feel of the outdoors inside your bedroom. When using potted plants as an indoor ornament it is important to remember to bring in plants that require little natural light; otherwise, the plant may die. Another option is to choose high-quality faux plants. One or two potted plants are enough in a medium-size space. Anything beyond two can overwhelm the space. Wall art is another great way to incorporate the outdoors in your bedroom. Do not limit yourself to a regular painting or wall art. Hang wall art that depicts nature; for instance, you could use tree metal wall art, wooden wall art or a wood carving of trees or birds, or a color painting of flowers or a cottage garden. Small outdoor or nature designs can also create a big difference on the overall look of your bedroom. You can stencil leaf or flower designs on your pillowcases, bed linens, blankets. You may also use sheer cabana style curtains that add to the outdoor feel. Since the bed is the biggest furniture in a bedroom, it can be the centerpiece of your garden theme design. You may use bed covers or linens with a floral design or choose plain linens and incorporate the floral designs on just the pillows. Another factor that can drastically change the feel of your bedroom is the paint color. When choosing color for your walls, choose a hue that is relaxing and calming. Choose cool colors like blue, green or yellow. You can choose to paint the room in one basic color or you can several coordinating colors. You may also opt to use neutral tones like beige and ivory and bring color into your bedroom through the accessories you add. Just like any space, choosing the right lighting and fixtures can define the mood and feel of the space. Pretty table lamps with floral or fringed shades add a funky shabby chic look. Get creative with personal touches. For example, you can use standard size picket fences as accessories. Make them into head board for your bed, place them on your bedroom cabinet as doors, or simply place them on the wall to add texture. Bringing in a garden fell in your bedroom is fun and easy to do. All you need is some creativity and inspiration from nature.
