Easy Fix: Bed is too big For Bedroom

It is not always possible to select a bed that is sized just right for a bedroom. Perhaps you have owned a bed for years that doesn’t quite fit into your new apartment or home’s bedroom. Or maybe you just had to have a particular bed and now that you have it home, you realize that the bed is a bit too large in scale to allow for much else in the room. Whatever the reason, there are design fixes that will allow you to use the bed in the space that you have while still looking fabulous! Keep Other Furniture at a Minimum
Using a larger bed may mean that you have to use smaller pieces of furniture in the room. In lieu of utilizing both a chest and a dresser, opt instead for a tall chest. You can always substitute a mirror that mounts on the wall for a vanity or dresser, as it will provide you with functionality without giving up any floor space. Use smaller tables or stands on either side of you bed in lieu of a large nightstand. Be sure to use the space beneath the bed, too. Look for storage containers that are made specifically to be stored beneath the bed. Install a closet organization system to make the most use of your closet space. Select Smaller Furniture
When you have a bed that is too large for a bedroom, you will also need to select other furniture that is small in scale. For instance, if you love your king sized canopy bed, you can save on space by utilizing a smaller vanity in lieu of a triple dresser. Likewise, you can save space by using a highboy chest instead of a traditional chest. In selecting small furniture, you can use more pieces within the room without making the bedroom space look crowded or overstuffed. Proper Layout for Furniture in Bedroom
The overall layout for your furniture must be taken into consideration when you are using a big bed. Experiment with different arrangements and select the best one for maximizing your floor space while creating an ideal flow of traffic for your room. Positioning your bed against the wall can provide you with a way to accommodate a large bed without giving up valuable floor space. Another option that is dependent upon the dimensions of your bedroom is to place the bed in the center of the room’s longest wall. You might also consider placing the bed near the entry door or closet door, leaving enough room for the door to swing open, of course. Simplistic Designs
And last of all, it is always best to keep your decor simple when your bed takes center stage. Simplistic designs will allow you to create an illusion of spaciousness that can be very useful when you have a larger bed. It is invariably important to reduce clutter so that you can use the space to its fullest. A large piece of art can be better in this instance than several smaller pieces that will cause visual clutter. Nonetheless, the bed itself is more than likely going to be the room’s main focal point, so adding another is design overkill. Thus, keeping the decor within the room simple is the best course of action to create an aesthetically appealing space.
